Strength Training is for Everyone

Training for strength is about a whole lot more than how much weight is on the bar. Not everyone is designed to move hundreds and hundreds of pounds, but anyone can get a little stronger. Everyone benefits from getting stronger. Many of them come in weak and timid, but they leave stronger and more confident. I have learned over the years that training is an experience that changes a person for the better. It is not about competing with anyone else, but simply competing with yourself and becoming as strong as you can be.

Everyone can benefit from this kind of progress. I show absolute beginners how to lift everyday and they love it. It doesn't matter if they are young or old, male or female, strong or weak, athletic or not athletic. They all see the value. The number of people training at Black Iron is growing everyday. No one should be intimated by barbell training for any reason. You just start where you are and work on moving forward.

The process of getting strong can be a lot of fun and will improve your quality of life. It is not terribly complicated. All that you have to do is learn how to squat, press, and deadlift. Once you have the movements down you slowly add weight to them. Over time small changes start occur. You won't notice them as they are happening, but eventually one day you realize a transformation.

Strength training is like anything else in life. You only get back out of it what you put into it. It is hard work and it is mentally challenging, and that is exactly the kind of challenge most people need.
